And yes, it has been a great start to 2011. Thanks to all those organisations and individuals who, despite – or maybe because of – the economic situation, have been very generous in their donations and gifts:

  • £3,182 from the Gateway Church – Christmas offering
  • £75 from St Joseph’s – Conference gift
  • £367.28 from St Joseph’s RC Combined School – collection taken following the Christmas production by the first school
  • £55 from Jobcentre Plus Centre – Poole Contact Centre Charity Group – dress down day on 3rd December
  • £52.05 from Morden Village Carol Singers
  • £90.75 from St John’s Heatherlands Carols by Candlelight
  • £806.70 from St Luke’s, share of Christmas collection
  • £225 from Holy Angels
  • £75 from St Peter’s
  • £95.44 from St Joseph and St Walburga
  • And numerous individual donations…

Thank you all so very much – these funds will make a real difference to our continuing work in Poole.

In November 2010 Rebecca completed the 10-mile Wimborne road race in just under 1 hour 29 minutes. Rebecca had always promised her grandfather that she would raise money for R2R and she has donated a fantastic £347.70. Thank you so very much Rebecca.

Waitrose Community Matters Logo

Routes To Roots was one of the three charities selected for the Waitrose Community Matters Appeal at Waitrose, Ashley Road, Parkstone for November 2010.

How does the Waitrose Community Matters appeal work?
At the checkout at Waitrose customers received a token, which they then placed in the box of the good cause they’d most like to support. The more tokens a cause got, the bigger the donation they received.

THANK YOU to Waitrose and THANK YOU to all those people who put their counter into the Routes to Roots box after their shopping trip. Waitrose kindly donated £330 to Routes to Roots in December 2010.

The Borough of Poole ICT and Business Support Department will be fundraising on behalf of Routes to Roots and Julia’s House at the beginning of December 2010. In 2009 they managed to raise over £1000 – we wish them every success with their efforts this year and say a HUGE THANK YOU to them for their support.

A HUGE THANK YOU to BIG YELLOW for their continued support of Routes to Roots. R2R is very grateful to Big Yellow for providing a storage unit in their Poole facility. R2R is able to collect and store large items such as furniture and so are able to provide essential support to those who are being housed and who come from the streets with absolutely nothing.
